Product and usage
How do I use KYLA Performance during training?
Pre-cool KYLA Performance in your refrigerator overnight, or for a minimum of five hours before training. Bring it to the gym in the carry bag. Hold one in each palm between efforts: between sets, between intervals, between rounds. Use the rest you already take. Under thirty seconds there is little to gain, and past two minutes the effect flattens out. For the background on why heat drains output, read why you get weaker every set. Use for the full rest period if you want a deeper reset, or shorter if you prefer.
How do I prepare it before training?
Place KYLA Performance in the refrigerator the night before, or a minimum of five hours before use. The freezer is faster if you are short on time, but it overshoots, so let the pair come up a little before you train. Too cold is not better. The carry bag is what holds the chill, so keep the pair in it between the fridge and the gym. Once pre-cooled and bagged, a unit stays effective for 7+ hours. There is no rush to get there, and no refrigeration needed on site.
How long does a single pre-cool last during a session?
A fully pre-cooled unit delivers 35 to 40 minutes of effective heat extraction during active use, depending on training intensity. Across a two-hour session, that works out to roughly twenty minutes of use per hour, which is typically enough to cover the rest periods between efforts.
How long does it stay cold between sessions?
Kept in its carry bag, 7+ hours at room temperature, not in active use. That is the window between leaving home and starting training. For sessions longer than seven hours from your last cool, refrigerate on site if possible.
How long should I hold it between efforts?
Use the rest you already take. Under thirty seconds there is little to gain, and past two minutes the effect flattens out. Within that range, hold it longer when you are hotter.
Can I use ice packs instead?
No, and the reason is physiological. Holding something very cold causes blood vessels in your palms to constrict, which reduces blood flow to the surface and slows heat release from the body. KYLA Performance is engineered to hold a temperature between 13 and 15°C: cold enough to extract heat continuously, warm enough to keep blood flowing. The goal is not maximum cold. It is maximum heat transfer.
Is this just holding something cold?
No. Heat transfer depends on the conductivity of the material in contact with your skin, not temperature alone. A low-conductivity object, even when very cold, moves heat slowly. KYLA Performance is engineered for high heat transfer rate, so heat moves out of the body rapidly during contact. The internal construction is patent pending.
Can everyone use KYLA Performance?
KYLA Performance works with the body's natural heat release system. Most people can use it without any issues. If you have a condition that affects circulation or sensitivity in your hands, check with a healthcare professional before use. Avoid use on injured, numb, or broken skin.
Can it be harmful in any way?
KYLA Performance works with the body's own thermoregulation system. It supports a natural process rather than overriding it. It is difficult to overuse: the body regulates its temperature and responds only as needed. Avoid use on injured, numb, or broken skin.

Science and effect
What is palm cooling?
Palm cooling is cooling the body through the palms of the hands. The palm has a dense network of vessels built to shed heat, so a cold surface held there in the rest between efforts pulls heat out of the blood and lowers core temperature faster than cooling the skin elsewhere. The full definition, the science and how to use it are on the What is palm cooling page.
How does KYLA Performance™ actually work?
Heat builds in your muscles and core while you train. As your core temperature rises, your body spends capacity on cooling instead of output, so performance drops before you feel tired. That is why the last sets are the hardest ones to finish, and why they are the first ones you lose.
You hold KYLA Performance™ in your palms during the rest you already take. The skin there is glabrous: hairless, and packed with vessels whose job is to move heat out of the body. It is the fastest heat exit you have. KYLA draws heat through it at a steady rate for the whole hold, rather than just feeling cold against the skin.
Your core stays cooler across the session, so you can keep pushing further into it. In the last published trial that meant 15% more lifting volume than lifters who only thought they were being cooled. Wang et al., 2026 → See the methodology page for what we have measured ourselves.
I am not hot when I train. I am just tired.
Both, and they are harder to separate than they feel. Heat does not have to make you feel hot to cost you output. Long before you notice temperature, your body starts sending blood to the skin to shed heat, and that is capacity no longer going to the working muscle. What you feel is fatigue. Part of what caused it is thermal.
That is also why the effect is easy to miss. Nobody walks out of a session thinking the room was warm. They think they slept badly.
Who is KYLA Performance for?
Athletes who train with repeated high-intensity efforts. HYROX, strength training, intervals, functional fitness, running, cycling, rowing. Anywhere heat builds across a session and rest periods exist between efforts. The harder the session, the more measurable the effect.
When will I notice an effect?
You feel the cooling in the first hold. Whether it turns into more work is a session-level question, so judge it over a full session rather than a single set.
Most people notice it at the end, not the start. The early sets felt fine anyway. The difference shows up in the ones you usually grind or cut short: the last round, the final set, the interval where the pace normally slips.
Across a session we measure deeper heart-rate recovery between efforts, lower perceived effort at the same workload, and output holding more consistently across repeated rounds. See the methodology page for how we measured that.

Orders and policies
When will my order ship?
Reservations are for the First Run, shipping October 2026. The Founders Edition, 100 pairs, goes to hand-picked athletes and is not for sale. You'll receive a tracking link as soon as your order ships.
Why does KYLA Performance cost what it does?
You buy it once. There are no refills, no cartridges, no batteries and nothing to subscribe to, so after the purchase the only running cost is the fridge space it takes up overnight.
The price reflects a first production run built in small numbers, and a unit that has to keep working through years of sessions rather than one season. It carries a three-year warranty against manufacturing faults. Prices differ by market because of local tax, duty and shipping, so the figure you see on the product page is the one for your market.
If it does not earn its place in your training, send it back within 90 days of delivery for a full refund.
Can I cancel my pre-order?
Yes, anytime before shipment, for a full refund, deposit included. Reserving means paying a 10% deposit today; we charge the rest when your pair ships. No questions, no fees. You are notified directly if anything changes about the timeline.
What is the warranty?
KYLA Performance is covered by a three-year warranty against manufacturing faults. If something stops working as it should, contact support and we will replace it.
Where do you ship?
The First Run ships to the EU and Norway. Shipping is 99 kr, tracked, from Sweden. More countries open as demand grows. Join the email list and tell us your country, and we count you toward opening it. Delivery time varies by location and is shown at checkout. Norway is outside the EU, so customs and duties may apply at delivery and are the buyer's responsibility.
What is the return policy?
90-day money-back guarantee, counted from delivery. No questions asked. Contact support and we'll send you a return label and instructions.
What happens if my product arrives damaged?
Contact support and we'll replace it. You won't have to cover any additional cost.
How do I contact support?
Email hello@getkyla.com or use the contact form. We respond within one business day.
Where has KYLA been covered in the press?
Breakit wrote about the founder story in January 2026 and about Novak Djokovic using a prototype at the Australian Open. Sweaty Business covered the product in March 2026. Those pieces, together with general coverage of palm cooling from the Stanford cooling glove in 2012 onward, are collected on the press page. Press enquiries go to the address at the bottom of that page.
