For skeptics
Good reasons to doubt us.
Palm cooling attracts big claims, and big claims deserve pushback. These are the hardest questions we get, answered the way we would want them answered if we were the buyer. Where the honest answer is not proven yet, we say so.
Is this just holding something cold?
No, and the difference is the whole product. Cold you can feel is not the same as heat leaving your body. Below about 14 degrees C the vessels in the palm constrict, which chokes the transfer. Ice numbs the skin, moves less heat from the core, and loses its cold fast. KYLA is engineered to hold the temperature where the palm keeps pulling heat for the entire rest. If cold alone were the point, we would not have needed more than forty builds to get here.
The evidence for performance benefits is contested.
Correct, and we say so ourselves. The mechanism, heat leaving the body quickly through the glabrous skin of the palms, is established in decades of peer-reviewed research. Whether that reliably converts into holding more output is where published results are mixed, and our references page keeps a section for findings that cut against us. Our own measurements point the right way, but they are first-party, early, and not yet statistically significant at current sample sizes. An independent study with Umeå University is underway.
Your numbers come from your own testing.
Yes. Until independent results exist, every performance number we have is ours. That is why numbers live on the methodology page with conditions and sample sizes stated, not in our headlines. It is why the comparison table is labelled as calculated estimates with an uncertainty band. And it is why you can request the raw data.
Why not just use an ice pack? It is cheaper.
You can, and between efforts it is better than nothing. The physics work against it: ice is cold enough to close the vessels in the palm, the very pathway doing the work, and it warms quickly against skin. In our modelling an ice bag in the palm moves a fraction of the heat KYLA does over a session. The method behind that comparison is open on the science page, so you can judge it rather than take it.
Cooling vests already exist.
They do, and much of the published pre-cooling evidence was built on them. A vest cools a large area of skin and is worn through activity. KYLA is built for a different slot: the rest between efforts, through the palm, where heat leaves the body fastest. We cite the vest research openly on the references page, including where it supports approaches other than ours.
If palm cooling works, why is nobody else doing it?
The mechanism has been known to researchers for decades. The devices that demonstrated it were lab equipment, never practical for a gym floor, and between lab rigs and gimmicks the shelf has been mostly empty. That practicality gap is the reason KYLA exists. Whether we have closed it is not ours to declare; that is what the athletes and the independent testing are for.
Could it just be placebo?
Part of what any athlete feels always could be. That is why our testing tracks markers that do not care what you believe: heart-rate recovery and blood lactate at matched pace, with protocols and limitations published. It is also why an independent, controlled study is the standard we are working toward rather than a marketing line. Until it reports, hold your judgement. We are holding parts of ours.
You are selling before the proof is in.
We are selling a reservation: a 10% deposit, refundable any time before shipment, and a 30-day money-back guarantee counted from delivery once it arrives. Nothing ships without your confirmation. We built the terms so that being early costs as little as we could make it cost.
This is a lot of money for two metal handles.
It is a lot for something with no screen. What the price buys is inside: more than forty complete builds, bespoke components down to the phase-change materials at the core, made in Germany. You buy it once and own it for years. No refills, no batteries, no subscription. And if it does not earn its place in your bag, the guarantee exists so you can send it back.
Still doubtful? Good. Read the research, see how we test, or ask us directly.
The tool does not replace the work. It lets more of the work count.
