Good reasons to doubt us.
Palm cooling attracts big claims, and big claims deserve pushback. These are the hardest questions we get, answered the way we would want them answered if we were the buyer. Where the honest answer is not proven yet, we say so.
I am not hot when I train. I am just tired.
Both, and they are harder to separate than they feel. Heat does not have to make you feel hot to cost you output. Long before you notice temperature, your body starts sending blood to the skin to shed heat, and that is capacity no longer going to the working muscle. What you feel is fatigue. Part of what caused it is thermal.
It is also why the effect is easy to miss. Nobody walks out of a session thinking the room was warm. They think they slept badly, or that it was a heavy week. We are not claiming heat is the only thing that ends a session. It is the part nobody is accounting for.
Is this just holding something cold?
No, and the difference is the whole product. Cold you can feel is not the same as heat leaving your body. Below about 14 degrees C the vessels in the palm constrict, which chokes the transfer. Ice numbs the skin, moves less heat from the core, and loses its cold fast. KYLA is engineered to hold the temperature where the palm keeps pulling heat for the entire rest. Doesn't the body handle heat by itself? That is what sweat is for.
Yes, and the body is brilliant at it. That is exactly the pathway we use: the palms are one of the body's own built-in heat exits. Through most of your skin, it could not. Palms are different. If it stops feeling cold, has it stopped working?
Mostly no, and this surprises people. The feeling of cold is skin sensation, and skin gets used to things fast. How much heat actually leaves depends on the temperature difference and on blood flow, not on what you feel. Will the effect fade as my body gets used to it?

Could it just be placebo?
Part of what any athlete feels always could be. This sounds too good to be true.

Isn't training in the heat good for me?
Fair, and partly true. Deliberate heat training has real, documented effects, and if that is the purpose of your session, do not cool it. Most sessions have a different purpose: quality work at full output. Heat that eats your last sets is not a stimulus you chose. It is noise. The honest answer is that cooling between efforts is a tool for the sessions where output is the goal, and you decide which sessions those are.
Why not just use an ice pack? It is cheaper.
You can, and between efforts it is better than nothing. The physics work against it: ice is cold enough to close the vessels in the palm, the very pathway doing the work, and it warms quickly against skin. Cooling vests already exist.
They do, and much of the published pre-cooling evidence was built on them. A vest cools a large area of skin and is worn through activity.
